The shift to remote education has presented instructors with many challenges, but the one likely causing the most headaches: assessments. Based on the tremendous response to the first E-CORE Assessment Webinar (link to recording), we are following up with more assessment sessions.

In this webinar, members from the ‘E-CORE Assessment Working group’ will present an overview of some approaches and strategies for automatically-graded assessments. The session will briefly review Bloom’s Taxonomy and constructive alignment before covering best practices, tips, and tricks in crafting and using multiple choice questions for both low and high Bloom’s taxonomy levels.  Strategies and examples for using other common auto-graded question formats will be explored. Participants will have ample opportunity to engage in small-group discussions, both to apply concepts and to receive feedback on their existing approaches and materials.

The workshop portion of the webinar will run for 1-hour, with an opportunity to stick around afterwards for Q & A with the facilitators and for continued informal discussions with other participants.

Please note: this session is not intended to be a comprehensive breakdown of remote assessment techniques, but instead provide a starting point for instructors when considering assessment options for their courses. We invite you to bring examples of assessment issues you are having and feedback on methods that you have used so far to share.  We hope to learn from each other and help connect colleagues working through similar issues.
